The Perfect Tool for Makeup Swatching

How does one achieve the perfect swatch when testing makeup? Be it eyeshadow, a lip product, or highlighter? Well, you can use tape, a stencil, or you can simply swatch on your arm with a finger. But for those who want to achieve the picture-perfect swatch for their socials, the best tool would be a stencil.

Why a stencil? That’s simple. When you buy a sticker stencil off of eBay or from a local store, it means that you don’t have to measure out the perfect rectangle or square to make your swatches look identical! Personally, the tape would be too tedious for me to peel on and off of my arm if I felt like it wasn’t straight. But I’m sure that with enough practice, anyone could buy some tape and do it for much less than buying stencils all the time!

Below I have inserted a few images to show you what is meant by tape, freehand, etc.

I hope this was helpful for anyone like me who didn’t quite know the best/their preferred way to do makeup swatches! If you know of any easier ways to get the perfect swatches, let me know! I will definitely be doing my own swatches in the near future and showing them off once I have perfected the art.
